A delightful stay in Merihas/Merikhas, Kythnos Island - Greece (Part 3)
Fresh from our overnight stay and a morning of relaxing and swimming at Kolona Beach on Kythnos Island we made our way to Merihas/Merikhas which is located on the West coast of Kythnos/Kithnos Island.
We walked up the small marina in Merikhas just before sunset. The black ribs pictured below are rentals, we had spotted some of them at Kolona beach earlier that morning:
Merihas is a very small village but it was exactly what we were looking for. We want to be away from busy tourist spots as much as possible but we also want restaurants, bars and cafes etc. all of which we had in Merihas. Here is a drone shot that we took of Merihas:
We had a really delicious dinner in Mirra. The evening was so warm that sitting outside to eat was ideal. The staff were welcoming and friendly and we even got chatting to the owner for a while.
The house white wine was excellent:
After dinner and drinks it was time for bed so back to the catamaran we went.
The following morning we went for a leisurely breakfast in Maistrali Cafe:
The arrow below is pointing to the Greek sign for this cafe but I am using Googles “English” version in this blog:
It was a really hot day already so everyone went swimming after breakfast and before long it was time to depart Merihas.
We stopped off on the way to our next overnight location for some relaxation time, more swimming and ate lunch on board. This is the spot we chose:
As you can see, we had the place to ourselves as this beach can only be accessed on foot (a steep hike) or by boat. The water was so clear and a very pleasant temperature.
After a few hours here we made our way to Livadi Marina on Serifos Island and you can read about our brief visit to Livadi now!
