About Us!

We are a couple from Ireland travelling since 2014 however we only started this blog in 2018. We have travelled extensively around New Zealand (we spent almost one year there) when we first set out on our travels. Since then we have spent a few weeks in Australia, walked the Camino de Santiago from Saint Jean Pied de Port in France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain (approx 500 miles), spent six weeks travelling around Argentina, completed a road trip around some of the USA (California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, Idaho and Washington) and Canada (British Colombia and Alberta). In recent years we have been exploring some of Europe - Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Spain, Slovakia, Switzerland and Turkey - and also completed a two week self-guided tour of Iceland in 2018.

We love the outdoors and keeping fit in general. Our love for outdoor activities was really ignited when we were in New Zealand and we have continued with it ever since. We usually try to find local hiking routes wherever we go!

Drawing on our love for keeping fit and incorporating it into our travels, in 2017 we decided to give bike touring a go. It seemed like a great way to continue our travels and push ourselves physically at the same time. We purchased Kona Sutra touring bikes and Ortlieb Panniers and headed on our way. That first bike tour we completed a 3000km cycle across Europe following the EuroVelo 6 from Nantes (France) to Budapest (Hungary). In 2018 we did another European bike tour this time starting in Roscoff France, cycling to Sète France. Once there we continued along the coast of France and into Italy before heading inland near Lucca Italy, cycling to Lake Garda and then over the Alps, through Austria and ending in Dusseldorf in Germany. That bike tour was about 3500kms long. In 2019 we did a shorter bike tour once again in Europe. This time we followed the Elbe River from Hamburg to Prague.

Of course we have a long list of places we want to visit throughout the world! We have been based in Portugal since 2019. Like everyone else, 2020 saw the arrival of Covid-19 and put a stop to our over seas travels. This theme unfortunately continued in 2021. However, we used this time to travel around Portugal as much as we could and so you will see this reflected on the noroadlongenough travel blog which now has a lot of Portugal travel guides and recommendations. During this time my love for podcasts has also grown and my love of reading continues as strong as ever. This has resulted in lots of podcast and book recommendations too. Since we have been able to resume travel (post covid) we have been exploring more of Europe and I have continued to post almost monthly true crime blog articles as these have become very popular on the site which is fantastic!

Why we started this blog!

The main reason for starting this Blog is that we are frequently asked for travel advice from our friends and family. Moreover, we have been told many time that we should start a Blog or write a book about all the places we have been (25 countries so far). So here we are, instead of writing numerous detailed travel related emails to our friends and family we are hoping to have this Blog as a reference point for them and you. We hope you enjoy it and find it useful.
