Back on the Trails & Loving Life!

We arrived back in Chamonix on Monday night, straight to bed! Tuesday was a write off in terms of getting “out and about” as it poured rain ALL day. However, we did get ourselves settled, stocked up on groceries (got soaked in the process), did some work and took the opportunity to relaxed and eat some yummy pastries.

We woke early Wednesday morning to a stunning fog covered valley, it was so pretty! Of course, once the fog lifted we got to take in our surroundings properly. The hills were lusciously green after all the rain and the mesmerising mountain peaks surrounded us once more. Time to get the trail runners on and get out the door!

I decided to be kind to myself on the first day back on the trails and do an nice easy short scenic route, but a new route all the same. I headed to the Lacs des Gaillands, a L’Anglais and Lac Sinclair (Route des Gaillands, 74400 Chamonix-Mont-Blanc). It was beautiful there and bustling with people.

After a few loops of the Lacs des Gaillands I headed onto the rolling trail above the River Arve (which goes all the way to Les Houches). It was really after heating up temperature wise and I was glad of the shade offered by the forested areas on parts of the trail. Of course I had to stop for some photos along the way here too as the view was amazing.

This photo was quickly taken on my way up to the trail above the River Arve, I believe this is Lac Sinclair:

The following photos show the stunning view from the trail. You can see the Aiguille du Midi and the Glacier des Bossons:

I ran home the same way (excluding lake loops on the way back). I arrived home hot and sweaty but feeling great!

Later in the day we walked around Chamonix and we were very excited to the UTMB start/finish line in place!

So good to be back in Chamonix, a few quick photos as we walked around:
