11 Top New True Crime Podcasts of September 2025

Catching up with some very delayed true crime podcast articles! So here (at last) are my September 2025 picks! As always, unless otherwise stated, I am listening to the featured podcasts on Spotify.

1. The Saints - Hosted By Pippa Bradshaw - 9Podcasts.

This true crime cult related podcast is really shocking and definitely not for everyone as it involves the neglect of a minor, leading to their death. Elizabeth Struhs was only eight years old when she died at the hands of a religious cult in the Queensland area of Australia.

This true crime podcast highlights “the dangers of extreme religious groups”.

“At the heart of The Saints is a story of lost innocence, unwavering faith, and the fatal consequences of unchecked devotion. Elizabeth, who suffered from a treatable illness, was denied medical care by her parents and the members of their radical religious community, all of whom believed divine intervention would heal her. Her avoidable death led to one of Australia’s largest-ever mass trials, where 14 cult members – including her parents and brother – were found guilty of her tragic death.” (Source here).

The host, award-winning journalist Pippa Bradshaw, spent over three years researching this case and uncovers:

“… the series of failures that led to her death and exposing the dark history of the cult that took her life.” (Source here).

This podcast is truly excellent. You can tell that a lot of in-depth and wide ranging research took place prior to the making of the podcast.

“The Saints takes listeners on a gripping journey through seven meticulously crafted episodes, which include exclusive interviews, harrowing police interrogations, and expert analysis. The podcast provides an intimate, chilling look into the cult’s operations—how its leader manipulated religious scripture to control followers, how new recruits were drawn in, and the broken families left to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives.” (Source here).

The Saints is a true crime cult podcast that will stay with you long after you finish listening.

All seven episodes are available now.

2. Unicorn Girl - Hosted By Charlie Webster - Apple TV/Seven Hills.

Fans of the excellent true crime podcast Scamanda that I featured in my 8 Top New True Crime Podcasts of June & July 2025 blog are going to be very happy to hear that host Charlie Webster is back with another con-artist in her grasp!

Unicorn Girl deep dives into the life (and crimes) of Candace Rivera:

“She’s a mother of two, a nurse, and CEO and founder of multiple million-dollar companies. Candace is the kind of person who seems like she can have everything she ever wanted. She can save the world and look good doing it. But one manic summer, those around her notice that Candace’s entire world is starting to fall apart. Was Candace lying about everything? Or is she a real-life unicorn?” (Source here).

Once you start listening to this true crime podcast you will not be able to stop! All nine episodes are available now.

3. Wisecrack - By Edd Hedges & Jodi Tovya - Tenderfoot TV & iHeartPodcasts.

I was completely invested in this true crime podcast from the first few minutes of the very first episode, I could not wait for the next instalment and as it was released weekly this seemed like a painfully long time to wait for my next “fix”! The good news for you is that all six episodes (plus some bonus episodes) are all available now so you can binge the lot.

In this true crime podcast Wisecrack host Edd Hedges gives a first-hand account of the “scariest night of his life” and this alone will have you hanging on every word he says.

I really do not want to give any spoilers because the story is so much more than just a true crime tale. So clear your diary, get downloading and get listening!

4. Invisible Choir - By Michael Ojibway - Reach Freaks.

OK so this is a true crime podcast series that I have been listening to since around 2023 but I have somehow overlooked and forgotten to write about in my previous true crime blogs. I actually don’t know how this happened as its a really great weekly true crime podcast and the host has a really nice, easy to listen to voice.

In each episode of Invisible Choir the host Michael Ojibway deep dives into a new true crime story:

“Each episode explores the intimate details surrounding a crime, and the subsequent individual and community fallout as people struggle to make sense of loved ones tragically lost.” (Source here).

This is a great true crime podcast if you are tight on time or don’t want to get caught up in a full true crime series, you can simply pick and choose what episode you listen to and perhaps sometimes you will have time to listen to more than one!

As this true crime podcast has been around since 2019 there are over 250 episodes available!

5. Guilt: Jessica (Season 6) - Hosted By Ryan Wolf - Brevity Studios.

This isn’t the first time this true crime podcast Guilt has featured on my blog and I am sure it won’t be the last. In this its sixth season, Ryan Wolf is investigating What Happened To Jessica Gaudie? and takes us the listener along with him every step of the way.

On the 28th of August 1999 Jessica Gaudie was only 16 years old when she went missing while babysitting in Nambour on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. Jessica was babysitting for Derek Bellington Sam when she disappeared. Derek Bellington Sam has always maintained that:

“… after returning from a party he dropped Jessica at an intersection 3 kilometres from her home, a claim the jury decided was untrue.” (Source here).

Subsequently, in August of 2001 Derek Bellington Sam was sentenced for Jessica’s murder and:

“… is serving a life sentence for the murder of Burnside High School student Jessica Gaudie in 1999, even though her body has never been found.” (Source here).

Derek Bellington Sam has always denied the charges and thus refuses to cooperate with the Police in any way.

Two other women also went missing locally around the same time as Jessica. One year before Jessica’s disappearance, 29 year old British backpacker Celena Bridge vanished from Boolooumba Creek Road. Then, a mere three months prior to Jessica’s disappearance 46 year old Sabrina Ann Glassop went missing from that same road.

Wolf seeks to uncover the truth about these three disappearances, to discover what really happened and to find who is responsible. Additionally, Wolf hopes to locate the missing women and bring some form of closure to their families.

“Not only is there a search for answers for the Gaudie family, but as of 2025, there is only one thing connecting the three women who went missing from the Kenilworth area between 1998 and 1999 - Derek Bellington Sam.” (Source here).

There is so much to this true crime podcast that you just need to listen for yourself. There are fifteen episodes available now and Wolf has left the “door open” for more to come as the investigation continues to develop.

6. Fifteen: Inside the Daniel Marsh Murders - Hosted By Erin Moriarty - CBS News.

Fifteen: Inside the Daniel Marsh Murders tells the shocking true crime story of a double homicide:

“Claudia and Chip fell in love in their golden years, surrounded by children and grandchildren. But in the early morning hours of April 14, 2013, their 17 years of marriage came to a brutal end: stabbed to death inside their Davis, California home.” (Source here).

The brutal killing of Claudia Maupin and Chip Northup devastated their family, friends, neighbours and the community they called home. Even more alarming was the lack of evidence, suspect(s) and the real risk that the killer would not be found and was still at large.

Host Erin Moriarty leads us through this heartbreaking time and deep into the search for answers and a killer.

All six episodes of this harrowing true crime podcast are available now making it a great option if you are looking for something to binge.

7. Stop Rewind: The Lost Boy - Blanchard House & Curiouscast.

In this ten-part series we are told the story of Taj, kidnapped as a child and now an adult looking for answers and of course, his biological family. This search takes Taj back to his homeland, India.

This is an incredible story of love and loss mixed with some epic life coincidences that lead Taj all the way home.

“Stop Rewind: The Lost Boy tells the true story of Taj, a child in India who was taken from his family and sent to an adoptive family half a world away. Taj never forgot who he really was – or that he was taken. But without the language or tools to return, and with no one who understood his story, the details faded, and Taj’s past was quietly boxed away.” (Source here).

Honestly, you will just have to listen for yourself; an equally heart-breaking and heart-warming story. All ten episodes are available now.

8. Moore to the Story - Podshape.

We are heading back to Queensland, Australia for this next tragic true crime investigation. In 2023 Kane Moore was only 18 years old when he went to a party in a park in Townsville with some friends and never came home. Kane’s sister found him dead in the same park the next day.

While Kane’s death may have been a tragic accident, Kane’s family strongly believe that someone knows something; someone knows who killed Kane.

This true crime podcast is an investigation into the night that Kane died and a search for answers for Kane and his loving family who are still trying to come to terms with their great loss.

All six episodes are available now.

9. Culpable: Danny Violette - Hosted By Dennis Cooper - Tenderfoot TV & Audacy.

For twenty-five years the family of Danny Violette have been looking for answers; how did their Danny end up dead in a field a few miles from his home.

Danny Violette was only 17 years old, the star of his high school wrestling team, when he went missing after leaving his home following a dispute with his parents. After a wide-scale search in the days following his disappearance, Danny’s body was found in a field near his home.

In this true crime podcast we hear directly from Danny’s distraught family and get to know the person that Danny was. It is hard to fathom that Danny’s family have been left in limbo all these years with Danny’s case remaining unsolved.

In Culpable: Danny Violette Danny’s brother is on a mission to solve the case, to find out what really happened to his brother and to finally get some peace for Danny and his family.

All eight episodes are available now.

10. The Hunter - Hosted By Anaya Echo Hawk - BBC Studios.

This six-part true crime investigative series follows Lydia Lerma in her hunt to track down the man who abused her young son and hold him accountable for his crimes.

“The Hunter is an astonishing tale of justice, survival and a mother’s unbreakable will.” (Source here).

From the very start of this story you will be constantly aware of the relentless love of a mother for her child and you will see just how far a mother will go to protect their child.

“After her son’s abuser escapes justice and flees to Mexico, Lydia assembles an unlikely crew - a police detective, a professional hunter, a district attorney, a Navajo handtrembler, an anonymous tipster and an Apache medicine man - and takes matters into her own hands.” (Source here).

I won’t give the full story away, much better to hear it directly from host Anaya Echo Hawk and Lydia Lerma herself. All seven episodes are available now.

11. The Cruelty: Stolen Generations (Season Two) - Hosted By Davie Donaldson - BBC Radio Scotland.

Back in 2021, host David Donaldson investigated the death and belonging of the “unknown bairn” in season one of the true crime podcast The Cruelty: A Child Unclaimed:

“… a young boy whose body washed up on a Scottish beach and was never claimed.” (Source here).

Since then, David Donaldson has been contacted by a number of Scottish Travellers who tell him:

“… stories of children being forcibly removed from their families.” (Source here).

So in this, the second season of the true crime podcast The Cruelty: Stolen Generations, Davie Donaldson investigates why these practices took place and the far reaching consequences of them.

This podcast is sure to evoke some real big emotions, have the tissues ready! All eight episodes are available now.
