12 Top New True Crime Podcasts of January 2026

Getting straight into it for 2026, back inhaling true crime podcasts daily and finding the best ones for you!

1. This is Robert - Hosted By Damien Lane - The Irish Sun.

OK so its maybe a little misleading starting my January 2026 true crime podcast with an Irish true crime podcast that actually aired in May 2025 but I only found it this month and it is a must listen.

Across three episodes host Damien Lane tells the story of Robert Delany who was shot in 2008, in an attack which:

“… left Robert with life altering injuries while the man who ordered the shooting remains free.” (Source here).

Host Damien Lane speaks to Robert’s devastated parents, leading us through an extremely personal and true account of the events leading up to the day that Robert was shot and the absolutely life changing consequences that this violent crime has had on Robert, his children, all his family and friends:

“Robert was shot in the head at his home in front of his young daughter on the orders of a dissident Republican after he intervened to save a man being beaten outside a Dublin pub two months earlier. Father of two Robert, who was 27 when he was shot, suffered a catastrophic brain injury and has remained in a permanent life altering state ever since. However, for 17 years, the man who called for Robert to be killed continues to walk free.” (Source here).

This is a shocking true crime story. Robert’s parents are incredible people and the love they have for their son is truly palpable. All three episodes are already available and definitely keep the tissues close by when listening to this one!

2. Real Presents: Grave Concerns - By Naomi Channell.

Naomi Channell is back with an excellent brand new true crime podcast series and I honestly binged all six episodes in one go, on the day they were all released earlier this week. If you liked the previous featured podcasts Noble and Body Brokers then this new true crime podcast Grave Concerns is definitely for you.

In this true crime podcast series, Naomi is investigating and reporting on criminal activities in funeral homes across the UK and wow, what Naomi reveals is truly shocking and really disturbing:

“Over the last two decades, the UK has seen a number of criminal scandals in funeral homes bought to light and they have traumatised thousands of families who believed their deceased loved one had been treated with care and dignity. Instead, they’ve been told that they had been neglected, lost or abused. But what’s just as shocking for many, is the realisation that the UK funeral industry is currently unregulated. But soon, that will change.” (Source here).

Naomi has packed this series full of thought provoking interviews with specialists and professionals in the funeral industry whom also want worthwhile changes, to protect their industry, their reputations and to allow people to trust in and respect their industry once again.

All six episodes are available now.

3. What Happened in Nashville (Season 4) - Hosted By Melissa Jeltsen - iHeartPodcasts.

In this true crime podcast host Melissa Jeltsen investigates the sudden closure of a busy fertility clinic in Nashville and the very serious repercussions that its sudden closure has on all of those using its various services.

We hear from one patient who is left:

“… scrambling to get her embryos out before they’re trapped inside.” (Source here).

As the situation progresses, it quickly becomes apparent that everything has not been above board at this fertility clinic for a long time (if ever!?) and this leads to:

” … patients uncover troubling new information about who was providing their care. Their discoveries trigger a wave of questions — and draw the attention of both state regulators and criminal investigators.” (Source here).

This is a great true crime podcast. It highlights many issues in the fertility industry in general and how vulnerable patients that use these services are. All six episodes are available now.

4. Inside Murder Trial - Hosted By Jane MacSorley & Thomas Ross KC - BBC Radio Scotland.

This true crime podcast is a little different, we are taken inside the courtroom of the trial of three individuals who are accused of the murder of Caroline Glachan. Caroline Glachan was only fourteen years old when she was murdered on the 25th of August 1996 in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. In 2023, twenty-seven years after Caroline’s murder, the trial of the three accused finally took place and through this podcast, we enter that courtroom.

“Her body was found face down in the River Leven. The 14-year-old schoolgirl had been battered, and left for dead.” (Source here).

The three accused are believed to have each played a role in Caroline’s murder and the subsequent cover-up.

In this true crime podcast we enter the courtroom and its so interesting to hear a court case unfold from start to finish, featuring:

“… unique recordings from inside the court room. And it features expert analysis from Tommy Ross KC - one of the defence advocates in this trial. Each episode tells the story of one day in court. By the end, you’ll hear what the jury heard. But when it comes to reaching a verdict, what will they decide? What would YOU decide?.” (Source here).

A captivating and unique true crime podcast. I suggest that if you don’t already know how this case ended (i.e. whether or not the accused were found guilty or not) then don’t find out, simply listen and let the case be presented to you.

All ten episodes are now available so this is great podcast if you are looking for a full series to listen to back to back.

5. Secrets We Keep: Killer Charm - Hosted By Tara Cassidy - LiSTNR.

We are headed to Queensland, Australia for this next true crime podcast. In Secrets We Keep: Killer Charm host Tara Cassidy investigates the 2017 murder of Bruce Saunders’ at the hands of his ex-partner Sharon Graham.

Host Tara Cassidy:

“… uncovers new information about how and why Graham coerced two lovers to stage Bruce Saunders’ death as an accident on a friend’s rural property. The podcast features interviews with Graham’s former best friend, her daughter and several ex-lovers as well as witness statements and never-before-heard covert surveillance recordings and police interviews.” (Source here).

Bruce Saunders’ murder was extremely shocking and cruel. Bruce was:

“… found dead after falling into a woodchipper in 2017. It looked like a tragic industrial accident. In reality it was planned – a murder orchestrated by his ex-partner, a grandmother from suburban Queensland.” (Source here).

All six episodes of this true crime podcast are available now and we can expect some updates in 2026 as those convicted of his murder have launched appeals which will be heard this year. A heart-breaking story of betrayal and greed; the brutal murder of an innocent man by those he thought he could trust.

This is definitely a true crime podcast that you should download and binge, clear your diary!

6. Crime Next Door: The Vanishing Cyclist - Hosted By Jane MacSorley - BBC Sounds.

I am absolutely hooked to this new true crime podcast from the BBC Sounds team. Sixty-three year old Tony Parsons disappeared while completing a 100 mile charity cycle along the busy A82 in Scotland on Friday the 29th September 2017. This true crime podcast investigates Tony Parsons’ disappearance and we hear from his family as they begin their frantic search for their missing loved one:

“Tony Parsons didn’t know how long his cycle ride would take. It might be one day. it could be three. All his family knew was that he’d come back through the door before too long. So when he didn’t, they began to worry.” (Source here).

We follow along with this is a tragic story (as I already know how it ends due to media coverage of this case), but hearing directly from the Parson family makes it so poignant and heart wrenching.

The first two episodes are out now.

7. Intrigue: Ransom Man - Hosted By Jenny Kleeman - BBC Radio 4.

This true crime podcasts investigates “… one of the world’s most audacious hack. It is a cautionary tale about something that could happen anywhere, to any of us, again and again.” - which took place in Finland, a country that rarely features in true crime podcasts in my experience!

“When a shocking data breach takes place at a Finnish psychotherapy service, the nation’s darkest secrets are held to ransom by a faceless hacker. He calls himself ransom_man.” (Source here).

Some of the people who were affected by this heartless data breach speak to host Jenny Kleeman and we quickly realise how devastating the actions of ransom_man are.

Host Jenny Kleeman also questions why someone would chose to commit this crime and the enormous power hackers have when equipped with valuable and incredibly sensitive information:

“… what kind of person is prepared to terrorise a nation like this.” (Source here).

The first two episodes are available now and I cannot wait for more episodes to drop!

8. Valley of Shadows - Hosted By Hayley Fox & Betsy Shepherd - Pushkin Industries.

In Valley of Shadows the hosts investigate the 1998 disappearance of Jon Aujay in California, USA:

” On June 11, 1998, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy Jon Aujay went for a run in California’s Devil’s Punchbowl park. A long-distance runner and former military, Aujay felt at home in the rocky terrain, but when he didn’t return home by nightfall, his wife reported him missing. Nearly 30 years later, Aujay has yet to be found and the mystery surrounding his disappearance has only deepened.” (Source here).

This is a really mysterious true crime story. We hear from lots of people who knew Jon Aujay and all the different possible scenarios that may have led to his disappearance are also presented; lost on the trails?, an accidental fall into one of the many mine shafts?, or maybe a victim of foul play and murdered by a drug cartel? - What happened to Jon Aujay?

The first four episodes are available now.

9. Shadow World: Anatomy of a Cancellation - Hosted By Katie Razzall - BBC Radio 4.

In this excellent true crime podcast from Katie Razzall and the BBC we deep dive into the modern world of “cancellation culture” and you can decide for yourself what side you are on.

When a successful, prize winning author is accused of racism and essentially “cancelled” questions are asked, opinions are offered and a lot of hurt is caused. But was it justified? Can it ever be justified? or is there a better way to deal with these issues?

I thought this podcast was really well presented and very balanced. I definitely found myself siding with the author initially however as the story progressed I my opinion changed. I found it hard to hear how the author’s life was so badly disrupted that she was pushed towards taking her own life.

All six episodes are available now so you can make up your own mind!

10. Everything They Missed - Stephanie Tinsley.

Over ten episodes this true crime podcast uncovers “everything they missed” during the Police investigation into the 2007 murder of Danny Harris near Memphis, Tennessee. These mistakes resulted in a heartbreaking wrongful conviction:

“It starts with a name. A name whispered in an interrogation room, scribbled into police reports, passed along like an absolute that seemed to solve everything—too neatly, too quickly.” (Source here).

This captivating true crime story will have you pulling your hair out in frustration - get listening now!

11. The Binge: Watching You - Hosted By Jonathan Hirsch - Sony Music Entertainment.

In this true crime podcast, host Jonathon Hirsch is investigating the 2011 death of Dominique “Nique” Leili:

“Nique Leili, a mother of three, went missing in July 2011. After a week-long search led by her sister that drew national attention, she was found dead in nearby woods of her suburban Georgia home. The investigation revealed a disturbing truth – her husband, Matt, had been surveilling the family for years, hiding cameras throughout their home. The recordings exposed a twisted web of jealousy, lies, and control.” (Source here).

This is a very unique true crime podcast as we hear the actual recordings that Nique’s husband secretly recorded and this exposes the real trauma that Nique and her children experienced, as well as the adversity they faced daily:

“… listeners hear never-before-released audio from thousands of surveillance recordings. Through interviews with those closest to Nique – all three of her daughters, sister and more – there will be detailed recounts of her day-to-day and the turmoil she was up against. Matt’s obsession with security and control turned their home into a fortress of cameras—leading to devastating consequences. The family suspected something was wrong, but the recordings revealed the chilling reality.” (Source here).

This is a true crime story dealing with stalking, harassment, surveillance, manipulation and mistreatment, it won’t be for everyone! One of the most disturbing parts of this story is that all of this took place in Nique’s own home, in a place where she should have felt safe and protected.

All six episodes are available now. I think you will probably want to binge this true crime podcast too!

12. Dead Certain: The Martha Moxley Murder - Hosted By Andrew Goldman - NBC News Studios.

This true crime podcast begins with a brutal murder. Fifteen year old Martha Moxley was beaten to death with a golf club near her home in Greenwich, Connecticut in 1975. It took a LONG time, but eventually Michael Skakel was found guilty of the crime, however, his conviction was later over turned. In this true crime podcast, this case is being re-examined, new evidence is presented and its packed with exclusive interviews.

” 27 years after Martha’s death, the case makes headlines again when Michael Skakel, neighbor to the Moxleys and relative of the Kennedy family, is convicted of Martha’s murder, a crime he says he didn’t commit. After serving over 11 years in prison, Michael Skakel’s conviction is overturned. Which raises the question of the series - if he didn’t kill Martha Moxley, who did?.” (Source here).

I am guessing that like me, you will find yourself going back and forth between thinking Skakel is guilty and then not guilt, on repeat! I am only half way through the twelve available episodes though so I am interest to see how this one plays out.
