Capela do Senhor da Pedra - Port, Portugal
Located in the Vila Nova de Gaia district of Porto on Praia de Miramar, Capela do Senhor da Pedra dates all the way back to 1793.
The Chapel of the Lord of the Stone is an:
“… 18th century chapel with a hexagonal plan, with small spatial dimensions, with a bell tower and a porch over the main door.” (Source here).
The location of this chapel is truly impressive. It is quite literally built on a rock in the sea and depending on the tide, surrounded by sea or sand!
Luckily when we visited the tide was out but unlucky for us, the chapel interior was not open! We still enjoyed our quick visit though.
The chapel is a nice easy spin from Porto and you could definitely incorporate a visit into a beach day at the aforementioned Praia de Miramar.
There are also a number of bars and restaurants located right next to the chapel here.
