8 Top New True Crime Podcasts of March 2025

Here are eight excellent new true crime podcasts that I have been listening to over the last month. Believe it or not, there were a few more that I listened to but did not make the cut/this list (this happens most months).

I listen to the majority of my true crime podcasts on Spotify, however towards the end of 2024 I caved and signed up for a Wondery+ account. Safe to assume if its a Wondery podcast then I will have listened to it there but otherwise I am listening via Spotify and the availability of episodes refers to what is available there!

1. (In)Justice: Killer Privilege - Hosted By Katie Strick - Wondery.

OK, so I binged all six episodes of this true crime podcast on Wondery+ as once I started I simply could not stop listening. I realised that there was some very “urgent” housework that needed my attention and so I binged while I “house-worked” (pro-tip right there)! A little background to this true crime podcast:

“In December 2014, Katja Faber received the news every parent fears most. Her son Alex, 23, had been killed. Chilling details emerged in the months that followed: her son’s killer had been his university friend Bennet – the son of an ultra-rich art dealer – who had brutally beaten Alex before murdering him. The killing took place on Zurich’s Gold Coast – a place of extraordinary privilege, just like the killer’s upbringing. But even more extraordinary are some of the revelations that have since surfaced about Bennet, his history, and the cat-and-mouse game he continues to play with the authorities to this day.” (Source here).

We hear from Katja Faber throughout this true crime podcast and she is truly fantastic, so captivating. Katja tells the story so clearly and logically and with such presence; what a resilient person she is. We join Katja on her quest for justice for her son and this journey takes us all around the world. It is rare that we have a true crime story that involves the elites or “uber” rich of this world and I think this is another element that makes this true crime podcast story so fascinating.

“It is a story of traumatic grief, the psychology of wealth, and how power and privilege can intersect with the justice system – with often terrifying consequences.” (Source here).

The first episode is available now on Spotify - what are you waiting for, go listen now!

2. Endless Thread: “Madness” - Hosted By Ben Brock Johnson and Amory Sivertson - WBUR.

In this five-part true crime series we learn all about:

“… the shocking story of forced brainwashing and the murky history of CIA-funded mind-control experiments.” (Source here).

Lives and families were shattered by the practices of one doctor who had CIA approval/backing to carry out his inhumane experiments; experiments and brainwashing which the patients (or their next of kin) never consented to and even worse, they seemed to be able to do their “treatments” with complete lack of accountability.

In this true crime podcast we hear from some of the family members of people (patients) who were subjected to these horrific experimental treatments and how those whom received these “treatments” were ever the same again. Mothers and fathers that were never able to “mother” or “father” ever again, sincerely heart-breaking accounts. The hosts investigate how:

“… how the stigma around mental illness combined with government secrecy can silence the truth and, ultimately, accountability for disturbing outcomes.” (Source here).

All five episodes are available now.

3. Assume Nothing: Killer Dust - Hosted By Ophelia Byrne - BBC Radio Ulster.

This is a great true crime podcast option if you are short on time or like bite-sized amounts of information at a time. Each episode of Assume Nothing: Killer Dust is only 15 to 20 minutes in duration. More great news is that the first eight episodes (of ten total) are already available.

This is the latest season of this long running true crime investigative podcast. In this season, host Ophelia Byrne is deep-diving into the world of asbestos. In 1967, a new asbestos cement manufacturing factory opened in Ballyclare, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland, under a veil of secrecy. What was this Turner and Newall factory hiding? Well, that is what host Ophelia Byrne set out to uncover and WOW did she what!

A really great, super interesting and eye-opening true crime podcast not to be missed.

4. Guru: Don’t Cross Kat (Season 2) - Hosted By Chico Felitti - Wondery.

If you like a guru/con-person true crime podcast then this is the one for you. In Guru: Don’t Cross Kat we hear all about the rise and fall of Kat Torres and it is one hell of a story:

“Kat Torres has the insta-perfect life. She is rich, gorgeous and not ashamed to share it. Her posts about witchcraft and “alien baths” draw in over a million followers, all chasing the dream of a lifestyle like hers. But as she gathers more followers around her, the secrets beneath her fame grow darker and more dangerous.” (Source here).

Host Chico Felitti introduces us to a woman whose best friend has been taken in by Kat Torres, she is “under her spell” and this woman makes it her mission to rescue her best friend from Kat’s clutches.

I listened to all eight episodes on Wondery+. The first two episodes are available now on Spotify.

Also, I featured season one of this podcast, Guru: The Dark Side of Enlightenment back in 2020 and it is well worth a listen if you haven’t already!

5. My Friend Daisy - Hosted By Jenn Swann - iHeartPodcasts.

Having listened to the first three available episodes of this true crime investigative podcast I am eagerly waiting for the next episode to drop. In this ten-part true crime podcast series we join host Jenn Swann as she investigates the February 2021 murder of nineteen year old Daisy De La O outside her apartment in Compton, California. Daisy’s family were distraught when no arrests were made, despite there being strong evidence that pointed firmly in the direction of her ex-boyfriend Victor Hugo Sosa.

Skipping ahead (I don’t want to give spoilers), with the help of TikTok, can Daisy’s family and friends finally get #justiceforDaisy?

If you don’t already know about this case then I would strongly advise you not to look up anything online about it and simply listen to this podcast. You will hear directly from the family and friends who relentlessly pursued Daisy’s killer and fought for justice for their beloved Daisy.

6. The Binge: Fatal Beauty (Season 14) - Hosted By Cooper Moll - Sony Music Entertainment.

Only the first episode of this brand new true crime podcast is available so far (unless you want to subscribe to The Binge) and I am already looking forward to the next instalment! This is a true crime story about:

“… a femme fatale named Sandra Bridewell who wielded her Southern charm like a weapon. After people close to her died, one after the other, Sandra became known as the Black Widow. Soon, she was on the run, trading aliases, getting new men to fall for her and bankroll her extravagant life.” (Source here).

In episode one we are introduced to Sandra Bridewell and we begin to get a picture of the life she lives, the lies she tells and the trail of destruction and loss she leaves in her wake. I can tell this story is going to be packed full of twists, turns and many shocking revelations!

Get stuck into the first episode and you will be ready when episode two drops.

7. Shadow Kingdom: God’s Banker - Hosted By Nicolo Majnoni - Crooked Media & Campside & iHeartPodcasts.

In this true crime podcast, host Nicolo Majnoni is diving head first into “one of history’s most notorious unsolved crimes” as he investigates the death of Vatican banker Roberto Calvi.

Roberto Calvi was found dead in a recognised suicide spot in London on the 17th of June 1982. While his death was first recorded as a suicide, later his cause of death was changed to murder. As I am sure you will have guessed, there is a big background story here and podcast host Nicolo Majnoni takes you right back to the beginning of Roberto Calvi’s life and slowly the full picture starts to appear.

This is a intriguing story, full of great characters, crazy business dealings and I think the first true crime podcast that I have listened to that involves the Vatican and the Pope!

The first four episodes are available now.

8. Very Scary People: A Family to Fear (Season 3) - Hosted By Donnie Wahlberg - ID.

I almost didn’t include this true crime podcast, not because it isn’t good enough but simply because it has the most awfully annoying, distracting and unnecessary background music/sound-effects pretty much throughout each episode. Its a real pity as I found the true crime story captivating - the only reason I was able to push through and listen!

In this true crime podcast, a divorce and subsequent custody battle turns extremely sour (putting it mildly) and we are left wondering how far the father (ex-husband), with the help of his family will go in their quest to keep custody of his children?

“The family is willing to do anything including stalking, kidnapping, and even murder to get their way.” (Source here).

This is an eight-part series and the first six episodes are already available making it a great podcast to binge (if the music doesn’t put you off).
